Practice Business Manager
Steph joined the Compass House team in 2016 and has a background in business and finance management, process improvement and customer service. She has a strong emphasis on ensuring a positive patient experience and strongly believes in continuous improvement.
Steph has overall responsibility for the Practice, providing leadership and management to guide and develop the team and ensure the sustainability of Compass House. She liaises with the Clinical Commissioning Group, voluntary agencies, other practices and Hospitals to ensure the Practice meets the care requirements of its patients. She also represents the local practices in Brixham and Paignton on the South Devon Collaborative Board.
Outside of work Steph enjoys being active and running around after her two young children and puppy.
Samantha has worked in General Practice for over 20 years, holding various administrative and management roles in different surgeries before joining Compass House in 2016. She is responsible for the day to day running of the Practice.
Reception & Administrative Team
Kelly Ellis, Head Receptionist
Kelly manages and leads our front of house team, along with two senior team members Catherine and Sophie. Our receptionists welcome patients to the surgery, arrange appointments, answer patient queries and carry out administration tasks. They use Health Navigation, which involves asking patients a few questions to understand the nature of their query using clinically designed protocols. This enables them to offer the most appropriate professional for the patient, which may not necessarily be a GP. It is not a clinical consultation and it does not make a diagnosis or plan treatment, it merely connects the patient with the most appropriate person or service.
Please give the Receptionists as much information as you can in order to help them help you. They will need to ask for further details or check information in your medical records when you telephone the surgery. They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses and everything that you tell them is treated in confidence.
Our reception team consists of Amy, Debbie, Jo, Kirsty, Laura, Paul, Sandra, Vikki, Viv & Nikki.
Our admin team carry out a wide range of essential roles supporting the clinicians such as arranging referrals for patients to hospital, following up on queries, typing letters, summarising patient record, dealing with all Insurance and Solicitor requests for medical examinations, reports and private forms. The team also support the practice management by producing patient communications such as leaflets and information, maintaining the website and manging the IT systems.
Our administration team consists of Claire D, Claire G, Claire H, Emma, Gill. Kirsty, Simon, Stacey and our Apprentice Jess.
