Did you know there are 850,000 people with Dementia in the UK? 225,000 will develop Dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. This means that as we live longer we will all know someone who has Dementia.
Compass House staff are all trained Dementia Friends. This means staff are Dementia aware so that they can help people with dementia in the community

Dementia Support
To link in with our work to become a dementia friendly practice, we have been working on a pilot scheme with our local Alzheimer’s Society and this will involve a Dementia Support Worker being present in the surgery once a month to give expert practical advice and support to help patients or their carers who are dealing with a dementia diagnosis.
Dementia Support Workers / Dementia Advisers are able to offer one to one help to either patients or carers in understanding dementia & how to cope with the day-to-day challenges it brings and prepare for the future. This includes helping them access other support services, and build support networks within the local community.
With over 225,000 people diagnosed each year it is likely we will all know someone affected by dementia so we hope that this step in working more closely with the Alzheimer’s Society and having the presence of the Dementia Support Worker here every month will be a great support to both patients and carers.
